“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 (KJV).
About two weeks ago, I released a single titled “unstoppable”. This song speaks of the power of Christ in a believer and I’m going to expound on this in today’s post.
Unstoppable means impossible to stop or prevent (New Oxford American Dictionary). Some synonyms include indomitable, invincible and unconquerable. In other words, someone or something that is incapable of being overcome or subdued. Simply put, that person or thing will always have the victory irrespective of what comes against them.
Do you know what Jesus achieved for us by his finished work? By his death, the old sinful nature and its consequences was paid for; through his eternal life we live forever & walk in a supernatural life here on earth. He made us unconquerable. Yes, we encounter challenges as everyone else but we have the power to respond differently because God is in and with us.
The resurrection of Jesus went beyond an empty tomb to an everlasting throne. Understand this, you now have God’s spirit living in you and the authority in the name of Jesus to be victorious in everyday life. 2 Peter 1:3 (KJV) states
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”.
God wants us to be confident in this and his will for your life is that the influence of his Spirit permeates all areas of life. In your personal life, emotions, relationships, career and of course, your sexuality.
The finished work of Christ goes far beyond any pain or suffering we may experience here on earth (Romans 8:18), though we live in the midst of a fallen world, we’re still unstoppable because God’s got us. Author Sam Storms said, “Joy is not necessarily the absence of suffering, it is the presence of God.” So, in the midst of the storm or outside it, you’re unstoppable: in death and in life, you’re unstoppable. I love Rom. 8: 37-39, “None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.” (MSG)
