“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night…” Joshua 1:8 (KJV)
The bible informs us that the natural world we live in was created by words—God’s word. Hebrews 11:3 states “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” This is a powerful observation about faith and words, that by faith the very things we see in our world were made from the unseen. In Joshua 1:8, God told Israel’s new leader: Joshua, not to allow the words of the law (given by God) depart from his “mouth” instead by constantly meditating on it he will make his way prosperous and successful. Here again, we can see the importance of meditation/speaking and how it can birth results.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8 (KJV)
Meditating and speaking faith-filled words enable us stay consistent with God’s plan for our lives. When we boldly declare God’s word, we align ourselves with his will and the end result is victory in whichever area of life. Even in times of temptation, declaring God’s word that we believe reminds and aligns us to win over them. This is because words bring to forefront what we have in our hearts to reflect in our actions. By speaking God’s word we renew our minds and bring direction to our lives. It’s so amazing that by speaking to yourself, you fill your heart with God’s word and by speaking out from a filled heart you declare his truths with power. Selah
There is power released when you speak faith-filled words. We’re not talking about mindless banter here, but conscious acknowledgment of who God says you are. Remember not to only speak when you’re facing a temptation or in a difficult situation, but to make it a conscious daily practice. When we speak words with faith in our hearts, they aren’t empty but life-giving. This is because of God’s spirit that lives in you.
And Jesus answering saith to them, `Have faith of God; for verily I say to you, that whoever may say to this mount, Be taken up, and be cast into the sea, and may not doubt in his heart, but may believe that the things that he saith do come to pass, it shall be to him whatever he may say.
Mark 11:22-23 (YLT)
Jesus said, John 6:63 (KJV)
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
No matter what you go through in life, don’t forget to keep speaking God’s word. Go through the scriptures and say what God has said concerning you. Don’t be silent. Use your words to renew your mind and by renewing your mind, you change your life.
